SUMMARY:Informal Quantum Seminar du LPTMS: Aashish Clerk (The University of
Chicago) - Salle des séminaires du FAST et du LPTMS\, bâtiment Pascal n
 °530 - 11 Avr 25 15:00
DESCRIPTION:Insights into driven-dissipative quantum systems using hidden t
ime-reversal symmetries \nAashish Clerk (The University of Chicago)\n&nbs
p\;\n\nMany-body quantum systems subject to both driving and dissipation a
re ubiquitous in physics\, and often possess complex steady states that do
not have a simple thermal-equilibrium form.  I’ll discuss how a subtl
e kind of quantum detailed balance (what we call “hidden time-reversal s
ymmetry”) can yield exact insights into a range of different driven-dis
sipative quantum systems\, including many-body systems relevant to a varie
ty of experimental platforms.  These solutions directly enable understan
ding of a variety of interesting phenomena\, ranging from the practical (
e.g. new methods for stabilizing remote many-qubit entanglement for modula
r quantum computing)\, to the more fundamental (e.g. exact descriptions o
f unusual driven-dissipative phase transitions).  I’ll discuss how the
method applies to a range of different physical systems\, including a dr
iven Bose-Hubbard model\, a driven transverse field Ising model (relevant
to recent cold atom experiments on superradiant phase transitions)\, and a
coherently-driven interacting XXZ spin chain (something well suited to e
 xperiments using superconducting qubits).  \n\n&nbsp\;
