SUMMARY:Informal Quantum Seminar: Vincent Grison (LPTMC Jussieu) - Salle de
 s séminaires du FAST et du LPTMS\, bâtiment Pascal n°530 - 23 Jan 26 14

DESCRIPTION:From Bose glass to Many-Body Localization in a one-dimensional
disordered Bose gas\nVincent Grison (LPTMC Jussieu)\n&nbsp\;\nOne-dimensio
nal interacting bosons subjected to disorder are known to possess an insul
ating ground state\, called the Bose glass. At finite temperature\, pertur
bative computations advocate for a crossover to a non-disordered normal fl
uid\, but an alternative scenario was also suggested\, arguing for the exi
stence of a genuine phase transition. The resulting low-temperature insula
ting phase is then akin to the Many-Body Localized (MBL) phase\, first int
roduced for fermions.\nTo settle this debate\, we develop a field-theoreti
cal approach leveraging the Functional Renormalization Group (FRG). At zer
 o temperature\, we find a new non-perturbative fixed point\, the approach
to which contains information on the low-energy excitations of the system.
We then turn to finite temperature effects\, discussing various crossover
s to the normal fluid phase\, where disorder still plays an important role
at finite length and time scales. Finally\, we point out how a modificati
on of our approximations leads to a different scenario for the low-tempera
ture physics of the system\, and put forward a hypothesis linking it to MB
 L.
