SUMMARY:Physics-Biology interface seminar: Gervaise Mosser - Moyen Amphi\,
 Building 510\, Université Paris-Saclay Orsay - 16 Mai 18 11:00
DESCRIPTION:Collagen and gelatin from sol to gel states for the synthesis o
f biomaterials\nGervaise Mosser (Laboratoire de Chimie de la Matière Cond
ensée\, Université Pierre et Marie Curie)\nCollagen type I\, the most ab
undant protein of connective tissues (bones\, dermis\, tendons\, etc)\, is
a macromolecular mesogen that can form lyotropic liquid-crystal phases.
With this approach\, our team works on elaborating several biomimetic biom
aterials. However\, the use of collagen can be hindered due to its price a
nd the possibility to easily denature into gelatine and noticeably during
sterilization processes. In this context\, we wanted to determine whether
collagen could be partially replaced by gelatine without modification of t
he overall hierarchical structure of the biomaterial.
