SUMMARY:Physics-Biology interface seminar: Pierre-Henri Puech - Moyen Amphi
 \, Building 510\, Université Paris-Saclay Orsay - 22 Mai 19 11:00
DESCRIPTION:Some aspects of immune cells mechanobiology: activation of T ly
mphocytes and parasite phagocytosis by macrophages\nPierre-Henri Puech (Ad
hesion and Inflammation Lab - Aix-Marseille Universités)\nSurface protein
s of cells which are implicated in cell recognition and adhesion are also
subjected to forces\, since the interactions with their partner is often o
ccuring at the interface between two cells. The study of the roles of phys
ical cues\, such as forces\, substrate mechanics and dynamics has lead to
the emergence of mechanobiology. One idea is to dissect how these physical
cues "help" the cells to read and interpret\, sometimes react to\, bioche
mical messages\, a process known as mechanotransduction.\n\nIn this semina
r\, we will present why and how forces and mechanics are thought to be key
regulators of immune cell recognition using our work using two biological
models:\n\n the crucial step of T cell activation which leads to an effi
cient immune response\n the phagocytic response of macrophages to the par
asite Toxoplasma Gondii\, responsible of toxoplasmosis.\n
