SUMMARY:Séminaire du LPTMS: Marco Biroli (LPTMS) - Salle des séminaires d
 u FAST et du LPTMS\, bâtiment Pascal n°530 - 21 Jan 25 11:00
DESCRIPTION:Unveiling Order in Disorder: The Role of Conditionally Independ
ent Random Variables in Strongly Correlated Systems\n\n&nbsp\;\nMarco Biro
li (LPTMS)\n&nbsp\;\nIn this seminar\, I will introduce the concept of con
ditionally independent and identically distributed (CIID) random variables
and demonstrate how they can be used to analytically describe certain str
ongly correlated systems. We will see that conditional independence is not
merely an artificial construct\; it also arises naturally in certain syst
ems. Leveraging this structure\, we will uncover surprising regularities a
nd derive robust predictions across a variety of models.\nUsing examples f
rom resetting systems and many-body stochastic models\, I will illustrate
how CIID variables serve as essential building blocks for modeling intrica
te\, strongly correlated systems\, leading to fascinating scaling phenomen
 a. This seminar aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the found
ational theory of CIID variables and explore their practical applications.
