DESCRIPTION:Optimal resetting strategies (when you don't know where the tar
 get is)\n\nMartin R. Evans (University of Edinburgh)\n\nResetting has been
  shown to reduce the completion time for a stochastic process\, such as th
 e first passage time for a diffusive searcher to find a target.  In a nut
 shell\, resetting cuts off errant trajectories that wander off in the wron
 g direction.\nThe resetting protocol can be defined  by the waiting time 
 distribution for the  random time between two consecutive resetting event
 s. Previously\, it had been shown that deterministic resetting process wit
 h a constant time period\, referred to as sharp restart\, can minimize the
  mean first passage time to a fixed target. Here we consider the more real
 istic problem of a target positioned at a random distance from the resetti
 ng site\, selected from a given target distribution. I will show that for 
 a broad target distribution stochastic resetting out performs sharp reset.
