SUMMARY:Séminaire du LPTMS: Spyros Sotiriadis - LPTMS\, salle 201\, 2ème
 étage\, Bât 100\, Campus d'Orsay - 28 Nov 17 11:00
DESCRIPTION:Quantum transport after inhomogeneous quenches\n\nSpyros Sotiri
adis (University of Ljubljana\, Slovenia)\n\nI will discuss quantum dynami
cs and transport in systems that are initially split in two halves lying a
t different temperature or particle density and abruptly connected. After
such an inhomogeneous quench\, a Non-Equilibrium Steady State (NESS) typic
ally forms in the thermodynamic and large time limit. I will demonstrate h
ow the emergence of NESS can be derived from first principles\, starting f
rom non-interacting lattice models in one dimension and considering the ef
fects of different boundary conditions and of interacting defects. Next I
will focus on a genuinely interacting integrable system\, the Lieb-Liniger
gas\, for which it has been recently conjectured that Generalised Hydrody
namics (GHD) emerges at large times. I will derive an exact determinant fo
rmula for the NESS and show how certain predictions of the above conjectur
e can be deduced from it.\n
