SUMMARY:Séminaire exceptionnel du LPTMS: Maxime Dupont - LPTMS\, salle 201
 \, 2ème étage\, Bât 100\, Campus d'Orsay - 20 Mai 19 11:00
DESCRIPTION:Dynamics in quantum magnets\nMaxime Dupont (UC Berkeley)\nTheor
etically challenging\, the understanding of the dynamical response in quan
tum magnets is of great interest\, in particular for both inelastic neutro
n scattering (INS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments. In th
is talk\, I will address this question for quasi-one-dimensional quantum m
agnets\, e.g.\, weakly coupled spin chains for which many compounds are av
ailable in nature. In this class of systems\, the dimensional crossover be
tween a three-dimensional ordered regime at low temperature towards one-di
mensional physics at higher temperature is a nontrivial issue\, notably di
fficult concerning dynamical properties. I will present a comprehensive th
eoretical study based on both analytical calculations and numerical simula
tions which allows us to describe the full temperature crossover for the N
 MR relaxation rate 1/T1\, from one-dimensional Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid p
hysics to the three-dimensional ordered regime\, as a function of intercha
 in couplings.
