iscid Burgers equation with initial data of Brownian type.\nAuthors: Zhen-
su She\, Erik Aurell and Uriel Frisch.\n \nIn my presentation (aimed main
ly at the sutdents) I will introduce Burgers' equation\, its link with Nav
ier-Stokes and the phase-diffusion equation\, and show how its inviscid li
mit can be simply solved using a Cole-Hopf transform. In this limit\, at l
ong times\, the velocity field develops shocks (singularities)\, which hav
e interesting statistical properties (e.g. they are scale-free distributio
ns). I will motivate the use of non-smooth\, random initial conditions\, t
hen present a few results obtained with this kind of initial condition.
