DESCRIPTION:Thermodynamic bounds on the statistics of first-passage times a
 nd extreme values of stochastic processes\nIzaak Neri (Max Planck Institut
 e for the Physics of Complex Systems\, Dresden\, Allemagne)\n&nbsp\;\n\nSt
 ochastic thermodynamics generalizes concepts from thermodynamics\, and mak
 es them useful to study mesoscopic systems driven far from thermal equilib
 rium\, such as\, optically driven colloidal particles\, noisy processes in
  cell biology or microelectronic devices. In mesoscopic systems thermodyna
 mic observables -- such as\, entropy production\, heat and mesoscopic curr
 ents --\nare fluctuating quantities\, and stochastic thermodynamics charac
 terizes universal properties of these fluctuating quantities. Established 
 results are the fluctuation relations and the thermodynamic uncertainty re
 lations\, which express universal properties of fluctuations of stochastic
  currents at a fixed time. In this talk I will present thermodynamic bound
 s for the statistics of first-passage times and extreme values of stochast
 ic currents\, which are fluctuating properties of trajectories of stochast
 ic currents. Some interesting results are: a bound for the mean first-pass
 age time of current variables in terms of the dissipation rate\, a fluctua
 tion theorem for first-passage times of entropy production\, and a univers
 al bound on the supremum statistics of the heat absorbed by a nonequilibri
 um system. These results will be illustrated on examples of physical proce
 sses\, such as\, the dynamics a molecular motor and charge transport in mi
 croelectronic devices.\n\n&nbsp\;
