Dear SoftMatter community,
We have an open PostDoc position at the interface of Theoretical Physics
and Biology in the cluster of excellence ‘Physics of Life’ at TU
Dresden, Germany
for 9 months (with possible extension for additional 9 months)
to be filled as soon as possible.
A possible topic would be « Information Theory of Chemotaxis ».
You can find out more about this work of our ‘Biological Algorithms
Group’ in our recent publications:
– « Sperm surfing along concentration filaments »
https://journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/article?id=10.1371/journal.pcbi.1008826
– « Physics of chemokinesis »
https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.124.118101
– « Bayesian gradient sensing »
https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1367-2630/abdb70
There is a possibility to supervise students and also to become
co-author of two manuscripts in preparation.
A strong background in nonlinear dynamics, stochastic processes,
computational physics and ideally a work visa for Germany would be a
strong plus.
Informal inquiries can be directly sent to
benjamin.m.friedrich@tu-dresden.de
Best wishes
Benjamin Friedrich
P.S.
Dresden is a lovely, medium-sized city with vibrant cultural life and a
national park with climbing rocks nearby.
