27th January 2022 : Postdoc – theoretical/computational biophysics – Syracuse University

Dear colleagues,
Please see the following announcement for a postdoctoral position in
theoretical/computational biophysics (using soft matter techniques) at
Syracuse University in my research group, in collaboration with some
outstanding experimental colleagues.

A National Institutes of Health funded postdoctoral position in
theoretical biophysics is available to investigate biophysical
mechanisms of tissue morphogenesis starting in Spring or Summer 2022. A
long-standing collaboration between the _Manning group at Syracuse
University _and the _Amack group
at Upstate Medical University _brings together
mathematical modeling of mechanical properties of tissues with
experimental in vivocell biology in living zebrafish embryos to
understand how biophysical forces impact cellular behaviors during
morphogenesis. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty
mentors in physics (Dr. Lisa Manning), developmental biology (Dr.
Jeffrey Amack), and cell biology (Dr. Heidi Hehnly) to develop
predictive biophysical models for the mechanical forces and biochemical
signaling that drive morphogenesis, andcollaborate on developing
innovative image analysis workflows. Candidates who are interested in
the position and would like to know more details about the project goals
and techniques are encouraged to contact us directly to request more
information.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the
postdoctoral development program
_https://bioinspired.syr.edu/education/development-program/
_and
programming offered by the Syracuse BioInspiredInstitute. Candidates
should be highly motivated, have a PhD in theoretical biophysics, soft
matter, or a related field, and have a strong record of scholarship.
Inquiries about the position should be directed to mmanning@syr.edu
, and applicants can apply directly at
https://www.sujobopps.com/postings/87640
. Syracuse University values
diversity and inclusion. Women and scientists from under-represented
groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
