Maths against malaria

No one should die from malaria. Yet in 2024, more than a quarter of a billion people fell sick and over 600,000 lives were lost – most of them young children. Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) is a not-for-profit product development partnership working to discover, develop and deliver medicines to treat, prevent and eliminate malaria. At MMV, mathematical modeling informs key decisions at all stages of drug development, through the framework of pharmacometrics. I will present a general introduction to MMV’s pharmacometrics approaches, as well as two recent projects where pharmacometrics meets machine learning.
