Cosmic Inflation and Quantum Mechanics
Jérôme Martin (IAP)
One of the most important insight of modern Cosmology is that galaxies are of quantum-mechanical origin. According to the theory of inflation, they are indeed nothing but quantum fluctuations
amplified by gravitational instability and stretched to cosmological distances by cosmic expansion. In this talk, I describe this mechanism and discuss the implications for primordial cosmology but also for
foundational issues in Quantum Mechanics.
