19th July 2021 : Postdoc opening in physics of multi-cellular systems at CPT & CENTURI in Marseille, France

Dear colleagues,
A quick reminder of a postdoc opening in my group (see below).
Thank you and best regards,
Matthias Merkel

*Postdoctoral fellow position in theoretical soft matter physics at the
Center for Theoretical Physics (CPT) and the Turing Center for Living
Systems (CENTURI) in Marseille, France*

I am inviting applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in my
group (http://centuri-livingsystems.org/m-merkel/). My group focuses on
theoretical and computational research in bio- and soft matter physics,
closely collaborating with experimental groups.

I am looking for a strong and motivated scientist to work on the
collective organization of cells into biological tissues.  The goal of
the project is to use a combination of cell-based models (e.g. 3D vertex
models) and hydrodynamic models to develop predictions for large-scale
anisotropic deformation of developing tissues.  The successful candidate
will work on theoretical questions while at the same time closely
collaborating with experimental groups (e.g. at the Institut de Biologie
du Développement de Marseille).

The two-year position is fully funded by the Alan Turing Center for
Living Systems (CENTURI, http://centuri-livingsystems.org/), an
interdisciplinary research hub in Marseille that brings together
physicists, biologists, engineers, and mathematicians.  To apply for the
position, please send cover letter, cv, and email addresses of two
references to matthias.merkel@cpt.univ-mrs.fr. Applications will be
considered continuously until the position is filled.  Please do not
hesitate to contact me for any informal inquiry regarding this offer.
